John McHenry died from unspecified causes on 28th February, 1915, after having been sent back to Paris. It is not known if he died from wounds or from illness, both of which took their toll of the men on the Western Front. The 3rd Middlesex battalion of 85 Brigade, 28th Division had arrived in France in Januiary, 1915 and since then had been holding the line in positions south of Ypres near St. Eloi and Oosthoek. |
